Research and Consultation
I started my career as an intern at the Royal Ontario Museum, undertaking visitor studies, and have been involved in research and consultation ever since as a practitioner and academic.
I provide a range of services including visitor and audience research, market research and stakeholder consultation.
I use a range of methodologies depending on the situation including online and face to face surveys, focus groups, telephone, internet mediated and face to face interviews.
Data Analysis and GIS research.
In September 2023, Alix Slater Consultancy welcomed Harrison Kandler as a Junior Consultant. Harrison has experience in using data analysis and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), enhancing the consultancy’s ability to provide in-depth research and actionable insights for heritage and cultural projects.
Capabilities:
- GIS Mapping and Analysis: Harrison uses GIS tools to map audience demographics, visitor catchments, and transport links, providing visual insights for strategic decision-making. For example, he mapped 25,000 postcodes for Chelsea Physic Garden, identifying visitor behaviour patterns and growth opportunities.
- Audience Development Strategies: He combines internal data with external datasets, such as census information, to uncover opportunities for audience development. For The Gasworks Sudbury, he conducted postcode analysis to map audience reach, identify overlapping catchment areas and recommend areas for targeting new visitors.
- Integrated Business Planning: Harrison incorporates data insights into business plans to support funding applications. For the Charity School in Edmonton, he mapped demographics and local businesses, contributing to a successful National Lottery Heritage Fund application.
Harrison’s expertise allows us to deliver advanced, data-driven solutions, strengthening our services for clients across the heritage sector.
