Project: Evaluation of the ‘Operation Hillside’ Exhibition at Hughenden Manor

Hughenden Manor’s Operation Hillside exhibition uncovers the fascinating secret wartime history of the estate, where highly classified map-making was carried out during World War II. The project, funded by a £62,900 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund aims to bring to life the stories of the men and women who worked on this covert operation through the presentation of original target bombing maps, personal testimonies, and an engaging audiovisual display.

Alix Slater Consultancy & Training Ltd was appointed as the Evaluation Consultant. We advised the National Trust team on data collection methods, providing a robust approach to tracking visitor engagement and impact. Alix then prepared the final evaluation report which was submitted to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, demonstrating the project’s success in enhancing public understanding of Hughenden’s wartime significance.
