Bowring Park, HLF Round 2 application

Client: Knowsley Borough Council

Dates: 2015/16

Budget: £2.5m

Project: Bowring Park, HLF Round 2 application

I was commissioned by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to assist the Environmental Sustainability Service in submitting their Round 2 Parks for the People application to restore Bowring Park back to its former glory for the community. The purpose of the project is to restore two nineteenth century buildings, a Ha ha, Dell and Walled Garden and reinstate historic vistas using woodland management. The visitor experience will be enhanced through new interpretation, improved facilities and opportunities to take part in learning, volunteering and heritage training activities. My role was to work in partnership with the Council’s in-house team to help them bring together their existing work into HLF compliant Activity, Management & Maintenance, Business and Conservation Management Plans for their HLF Round 2 application for just under £2m. I also supported them by attending key meetings during the HLF application and review process.
