HEART, a new museum for Folkestone, Activity Plan and consultation for a HLF Round 2 application

Client: Folkestone Town Council

Dates: 2015

Budget: £2.52m

Project: HEART, a new museum for Folkestone, Activity Plan and consultation

The Council had been working with Kent Council Council to agree a number of long-term loans which bring together Folkestone’s cultural and historic assets in a new museum in the Old Town Hall, supporting the regeneration of the town and boosting tourism. I was originally appointed to mentor the internal team in the preparation of the Activity Plan and to take the lead when a member of staff went on maternity leave. The Council then asked me to run a series of focus groups to consult with the community to test their plans for the proposed interpretation and activities during summer 2015. The Council have now secured a Round 2 HLF grant of £1.95m towards HEART and are delivering the project.
